Network of European Alimentary Culture

Network is based on the assumption that table manners, likes and dislikes through their formation reflect a vivid image of society. Food seen as an anthropological paradigm of society, can be analysed from a variety of viewpoints: art, literature, science, music, sociology a repertoire, which has as its objective to highlight the complexity of European food culture acknowledging the present reality and value that food can assume. This project actively encourages the emergence of a European identity for children. Sharing ideas about good food from a local, regional and international perspective, makes this a very imaginative and attractive initiative for children, parents and teachers. It allows participating groups to open their minds and explore the cultural aspects of all European countries involved.
In fact, the theme of the network is European Alimentary Culture, and the work will focus on raising the awareness of the vital role of the regions in Europe within the context of European citizenship. The network will strive to highlight that a strong local/regional identity is essential and complementary to a strong European identity. Information on various aspects concerning different layers of identity and active citizenship will be collected and examined, results linked and translated into appropriate ICT-based innovative pedagogical and didactical approaches, tools, materials, courses and curricula enhancing the European dimension of school education on a regional level.

2003 - 2006
H2O - Not only water

The Project aims to implement – throughout the universal and transversal topic “water” - an educational, collaborative, interactive and transnational activity based on a shared virtual desktop and to evaluate its application as a reproducible model, the first for the schools, contributing to the student’s formative success.
For these reasons, the project will involve – operatively and creatively - students, teachers and families in the experimentation of multimedia technologies and telecommunication, developing distance learning, shared through the Internet network. This Project means to promote the union of friendly and creative acquaintance using diversity like mutual enrichment and cognitive incentive. Therefore, the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is essential in order to strengthen the European dimension of learning, to promote the transnational cooperation of the citizens, the stimulation of lifelong learning through innovative and accessible methods.

I eat, therefore I am...

The objective of this project is to integrate and reinforce the national actions in the respect of diversity and to promote the progression of the citizens towards a Cognitive Society, by using new information and communication technologies in education and lifelong learning. This we hope to achieve by a dissemination of the eating habits throughout Europe with the aim of highlighting the criteria of good accessible nutritious eating practices to all age groups in the participating countries. This objective can be achieved through the very powerful instrument of the Internet, which in the Cognitive Society becomes the innovative office of the pupils, teachers, makers and families.
